Bio

Michael was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA. He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech in May 2012. During his time at Virginia Tech, Michael participated in the Honors Program. He traveled overseas for two study abroad summer sessions in Germany for his German studies and Denmark for his Unit Operations Lab as part of the Chemical Engineering curriculum. Michael also worked as an intern at Celanese in Florence, KY and as a co-op student at Flint Group in Asheville, NC. In the fall of 2012, Michael joined Dr. Walton’s research group.

Research Interests

Studying properties of carbide-derived carbon for the purposes of adsorbing specific volatile organic compound emissions from the paper industry.
