Dr. Cody R. Morelock

Ph.D., 2014, Chemistry, Georgia Institute of Technology
B.S., 2009, Chemistry, magna cum laude, Furman University

Cody Morelock is a proud native of Kingsport, Tennessee, where he graduated from Dobyns- Bennett High School. Cody received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Furman University in May 2009; as an undergraduate, he gained experience in experimental materials research, working with Dr. Laura Wright.

Cody Morelock completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry at Georgia Tech in 2014. His doctoral thesis research with Dr. Angus P. Wilkinson focused on negative thermal expansion (NTE) materials. For his doctoral research, Cody gained much experience with synchrotron X-ray and neutron powder diffraction experiments at extreme temperatures and pressures, frequently working at the Advanced Photon Source at Argonne National Laboratory and at neutron sources at Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

Cody's work in the Walton group is a part of the UNCAGE-ME EFRC and primarily focuses on metal-organic framework structure.
